It is located on the Trinity River, eleven miles above Douglas, and is the point where the stage line from Weaverville to Shasta crosses, the river being spanned here by a substantial bridge. The stages make daily trips each way. There are a few good farms in the neighborhood, and is also the possessor of some very rich quartz mines, and mills have been erected. The town has the usual business facilities and does a fair business. The population is fully four hundred.
