Janie Indian Tribes Achomawi - became known as the Pit River Indians - one of 11 bands in the northeast corner of Shasta Co. Atsugewi - known of as Hat Creek Indians - area including from Pit River, to Burney Valley, to Lassen peak. Okwanuchu - known of as Shasta Indians - on upper Sacramento River area. Wintu - known also by Wintun, Wintoon, Central Wintu, and Nomlaki. area including Trinity, Tehama, and southern Shasta Co.
