    1. [CASHASTA] [CASHATA-L] Mining accident?
    2. I relize this is a longshot but you never know until you ask! My gggrandfather Edward LaVier (birthdate unknown, Canada) married Alice Marsh in 1894 in Grants Pass Oregon. After giving birth to two children, she died of Malaria. A short time later (between 1900 and 1908) he left town to find work and was never heard of again. After a plea for help though a magazine, someone told the family that he was killed in a mining accident around the Redding- Red Bluff Area. He was carried out on the back of a mule. I have checked the CA death index and he is not there. I was wondering if anyone might know of a mining accident in the time frame. I really would love to find where he was buried and perhaps learn about the accident. I saw this in the land records recently for a land grant in Shasta and wondered if there might be a connection to Edward Lavier visiting in this area. If you could tell me anything about this person/family, I would be so grateful. The Lavier name is so uncommon.
