    1. [CASHASTA] Back!!
    2. Hello Janie and all, On our vacation we didn't even make it to Shasta County. We decided this would be a separate trip. When we were in Sacramento I went to the BLM office and got the Survey Map I needed to find my Greatgrand Father's Homestead he had in 1893. For years we were told that it was under the lake. It is not. For reference I have included a on-line map as I need some direction from locals. http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=40.7123&lon=-122.13&s=100&size=s If you will go to the map and look for the #1, its east of Pine Grove and above Hwy. 299. Their is the large word East and to the right of that a small word east, right below in that section under the small word east is where the Homestead was located. He gave his address as Leighton Post Office, isn't that pretty far away in miles? or was that usual in those days. When he naturalized in 1884 he gave his address as N Cow Creek. When he was applying for his Homestead, it said he and family left and came back from a job and continued to make improvements. I noticed that Corondo Mine is a N. Cow Creek. I had heard that he worked in a mine. Do you have any info on the Corondo Mine? I am also told by an old living Aunt, that they lost the Homestead. So, now my next area of search is to find out about that. I am wondering if there is an address for that location. Does anyone know about that area? BLM, said that the land description stays the same forever. We had a great trip dispite the heat! Jean Hehn
