He did not die in Shasta County (although that apparently was his last place of residence, per the Social Security record). He died in Humboldt County, so that is where you need to look for an obituary or other records. I would suggest trying the Humboldt County library, probably in Eureka (which I think is the county seat). That said, if he lived in Shasta County, it is possible that the local newspaper (Record-Searchlight, in Redding) would have had a notice. For that, try the Shasta County library (main branch in Redding), which is very helpful with things like this (I think for a small fee). Good luck with your search.
