I've "rescued" three old photographs belonging to the REAGER Family of California. The first is a photograph of Delia REAGER REED and her husband Henry Ellsworth REED which was taken on the occasion of their wedding in 1902. The photograph was taken at the Taber Studio in San Francisco, CA. The couple appears to be in their 20's or 30's at the time it was taken. The second photograph is one of Delia's sister, Mary Virginia REAGER which appears to be a reprint of an earlier photograph which was probably taken when Mary was in her 40's. There is no studio or location noted on the photograph. The third photograph is one their brother, Frank Seymour REAGER which was taken at the Datesman Studio, no location indicated. This third photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Frank appearing to be in his 20's at the time it was taken. On the back of Frank's photograph someone has also written "born June 20 1868 on ranch 5 miles East of Orland 1868" and "Property of O. D. REAGER". Based on limited research I was able to locate a considerable amount of information regarding the family including the following details: All three are the children of Martin Anguish REAGER (b. 1829 in Missouri-d. 1895) and Amanda GOODRICH (1834-1907). There were 7 children born to this couple including, Louis Martin; Edith Rebecca (married name LAKE); George Absalom; Frank Seymour; Mary Virginia "Mae" or "May"; Marion Lee; and Delia Myra or Myna REAGER REED, all born between 1861 and 1875. Amanda had a previous marriage and had two children with her first husband including, Sarah Elizabeth; John Henry; and William Francis HEMPHILL born between 1854 and 1859. Delia Myra or Myna REAGER was b. 1 Feb 1875 in Colusa Co. CA and married Henry Ellsworth REED of Ord, CA in 1902. The had 4 daughters including, Cordelia Alberta "Ardelia" REED CHITTENDEN of Willows, CA; Phyllis Henrietta REED WHITSETT of Orland, CA; Martina May REED MYNATT of Ord, CA; and Madge Rosalie REED or Ord, CA; and a son, Thomas Henry REED of Ord, CA. Delia died 16 May 1960 in Willows, CA and is buried in the Orland IOOF Cemetery in Orland, CA. Mary Virginia "May" REAGER was b. 27 Dec 1870 in Glenn Co. CA, she was a teacher for many years in the Orland Schools. She never married and died 3 Dec 1943 in Orland, CA and is buried in the Orland IOOF Cemetery in Orland. Frank Seymour REAGER was b. 20 Jun 1868 in Orland, CA. Frank attended Orland College and became a teacher in both Glenn and Shasta Counties, eventually becoming the Glenn County Superintendent of Schools. Frank married Emma Louise SCRIBNER (1870-1946) and together they had 7 children including, Mary Amanda REAGER CRAMPHORN (1901-1942); Bernice; Helen; Josephine REAGER PICKERING (1906-1986); Martin A. REAGER (1908-1908); Frank Scribner; and Louise REAGER (1913-1915). Frank died 7 Nov 1957 in Long Beach, CA and his obit lists survivors including, a son Frank REAGER Jr. and a sister Delia REED, both of Ord, CA; a daughter Josephine PICKERING of Long Beach, CA; and Bernice EICHLER of Los Angeles, CA. Frank is buried in the Orland IOOF Cemetery in Orland, CA. I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that the photographs can be returned to their care.
