    3. Hi, I remember reading somewhere in some book that Motion Creek is where Coram was founded. My great-grandfather came from Italy and ran a rooming house in Coram circa 1910. Anyway, that's all I know except that I also read that Motion Creek was so named because some prospector had a "motion" there...as in motion sickness if you get my meaning. I wouldn't mind knowing if there is a cemetery there too since one of my GG's daughters died there (we think) though it might have been when he later moved to Pennsylvania after Coram essentially became a ghost town. You did not mention a date range, but if you have not tried the Shasta County Historical Society, I would suggest starting with them. Also try CAGenWeb for Shasta County (they have a "small cemeteries" section, some with only one or two names ) and can follow up with contacts/links on that site, post surname queries, search the old marriage index, etc. For possible obits (depending on date range) and general information about that area, you can also try the Redding public library (main branch for the county library).
