Downey, Governor of the State of California, for the pardon of Madison James, who was convicted of the crime of murder in the second degree at the December Term, A.D. 1857, of said Court, held in and for the county of San Mateo, and sentenced by said Court on the 30th day of December, A.D. 1857, to imprisonment in the State's prison for the term of ten years.
