We were in the San Jose area yesterday, visiting my husband's uncle. He casually mentioned that his great grandfather, Orrin DuBois, homesteaded in Willow Glen, though he had no idea as to exactly where that might be. This would have been about 1851-2, as Orrin and his wife, Mary were living near Mariposa, CA in the 1850 census. In the 1870 census they are living in San Jose, post office given as "Alviso"...for 1860 and 1880, the only place identification is "San Jose". Does anyone have any idea how I might be able to verify this info? I live in Bremerton, WA. We are on our way home now so research on site in San Jose would have to wait for next year's visit.
