A volunteer for the Second Harvest Food Bank of San Mateo County and founder of the first Boys Club in East Chicago, Ind., Mr. Sprengelmeyer died Tuesday at home. He had lived in San Mateo County 22 years. He was an active member of the Twin Pines Seniors Clubs. A native of Iowa, he lived for 25 years in Hammond, Ind., where he served as exalted ruler of the Elks Club of East Chicago, Ind., and was a member of the Kiwanis Club, in addition to his Boys Club activities. He is survived by his sons, Larry R. of Belmont and Dr. James T. of Los Angeles; a daughter, Jane Ann Smalley of Toledo, Ohio; brothers Cyril A. of McMinville, Ore., and Frederick C. of Dubuque, Iowa; sisters Florence G. Yates of North Fort Meyers, Fla., and Mary E. Roid L. of Brooksville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Duggan’s Carlmont Chapel mortuary in Belmont. The family prefers contributions to the Second Harvest Food Bank of San Mateo County, 2110 Palm Ave., San Mateo.
