He was born in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada, and had been a California resident for many years. He formerly owned a delicatessen in San Francisco and a motel in Lake Tahoe, and was a member of the Bartenders and Culinary Workers Union. In Foster City he was a member of the 55 Plus Club. Survivors include Marguerite, his wife of 57 years; a son Gerald, of Lake Tahoe, Nev.; sisters Gladys Stears of San Mateo and Pearl McEvers of Detroit; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends may call after noon today at the Sneider & Sullivan Funeral Home in San Mateo. Services begin there at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Skylawn Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Heart Association.
