McCarty Dies at 69 Loring L. “Mac” McCarty, 69, well-known Peninsula restaurant and bar owner and jazz band performer, died suddenly at his La Honda home Wednesday. A native of Isleton, he was co-owner with his wife of the Boots and Saddle Lodge in La Honda for the past 27 years. He was a member of the Golden Gate Jazz band playing bass viola and tuba. The group of veteran band performers held monthly jam sessions at his lodge. Prior to owning the Boots and Saddle, McCarty operated what is now the House of Troy in Belmont, the Lariat Club in San Carlos and the Carlos Club in San Carlos. He had lived in San Mateo county for 35 years and was a member of Native Sons of the Golden West, Pebble Beach Parlor 230 of Pescadero, B.P.O.E. Lodge 1112 of San Mateo and was a charter member of the American Federation of Musicians, local 68, San Francisco. Survivors include his wife, Grace McCarty of La Honda and two sons, Don McCarty of Escondido and Gay Getty of La Honda, a daughter, Mrs. Lynn Brook of Buhl, Idaho, two brothers, Gene of Stockton and Ray of Palm Springs and three grandchildren, Kenny and Patty McCarty and Rickey Brook. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Dutra-Randleman Funeral home, Half Moon Bay, under the auspices of N.S.G.W. Pebble Beach Parlor 230. Inurnment will be at Skylawn Memorial Park. Contributions to the American Heart Association are preferred.
