John Dias Sr., 94, of 2310 Pescadero Road, Pescadero, died Monday in Half Moon Bay Community Hospital. He was a native of the Azore Islands and had lived on the Coastside for the past 87 years. He was the owner of John Dias and Sons Inc. in Pescadero, wholesale growers for the straw flower industry. He was a member of the Pescaders IDES. Survivors include two sons, Noel Dias and John Dias Jr., both of Pescadero; a daughter, Margaret Ray of Saratoga; a brother Barney Dias of Pescadero; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., at the Dutra-Randleman Funeral Home in Half Moon Bay, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church in Half Moon Bay. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. The rosary will be recited tonight at 8 o’clock at the funeral home. **** DIAS – In Moss Beach, October 1, 1979, John Dias Sr., late of Pescadero, beloved father of Noel Dias and John Dias Jr., both of Pescadero, and Margaret Ray of Saratoga; dear brother of Barney Dias of Pescadero; also survived by four grandchildren and eight great-grandchild. A native of the Azores Island, aged 94 years. A member of Pescadero I.D.E.S. Society and owner of John Dias & Sons Straw Flower Co.
