DIAS John E. Dias, 74, of Pescadero, died at Stanford Medical Center on Saturday after a brief illness. He was a native of Pescadero and had lived in San Mateo County all his life. He was the founder of “John Dias and Sons Straw Flowers.” He was president of the Pescadero Chamber of Commerce and presided over dedication ceremonies for State Route 1 in the 1940s. Dias was president of the Native Sons of the Golden West, Pebble Beach Parlor No. 230. He was past president of the Pescadero I.D.E.S. Society, a graduate of Pescadero High School, College of San Mateo and the University of California at Davis. He is survived by a brother, Noel Dias of Pescadero, and a sister, Margaret Ray. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Pescadero. The rosary and lodge services will be conducted on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Dutra Randleman Funeral Home in Half Moon Bay. Interment will be at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Pescadero.
