I am looking for anyone connected to the Adolph Kobelt family. I know that his daughter-Sophia married a Cloud in San Mateo Co. and I have some information on him. I also have Adolph's emigration date which if it is right, is earlier than what my Joseph Kobelt says he emigrated from Switzerland to Downieville, Sierra Co., California, but wondering if anyone knows what connection there was between the two. Or who Adolph's parents were. Thank you. Pat Morano

Kris, although she may not have been head of household, if Mary were boarding with a family or listed as lodger, etc., she *should* be indexed -- that is, UNLESS the head of household also had the surname O'Brien or unless the enumerator missed indicating Mary's surname. In 1910, there is a boarder Mary O'Brien born circa 1879 in California, but there is no John born circa 1898 living in the same household. Do you know Mary's maiden name?

It's difficult to know what resources to consult without having some idea of when the family migrated from the midwest to San Mateo county. However, I did find two pieces of information that may in some way assist you in your research: The CA Death Index indicates that Kenneth was born in MN rather than WI; note that this information is only as accurate as the knowledge/recollection of the person who provided the information when Kenneth died. MORRIS, KENNETH COWELL d 22 Mar 1951 SAN MATEO county 559033344 MALE died 8 Jun 1906 MINNESOTA mother's maiden COWELL In the 1930 censuses, I don't find any good matches for a Kenneth MORRIS born circa 1906 in Minnesota or Wisconsin. In ancestry.com's "Family Data Collection," I find a submission that also indicates Kenneth was born in Minnesota: Name: Morris, Kenneth Cowell Father: Morris , Morgan Mother: Cowell , Clara Maria Birth Date: 8 June 1906 City: Mankato State: MN Country: USA Have you also posted queries in the MORRIS and COWELL surname boards?

Greetings to all of my BRITNELL cousins in California. I am conducting a census for BRITNELL hopefully to be complete by March of 2005. During my research in the past fifteen years I have discovered that there are about 4000 of us using the name w/w. This name appears to be going into decline. To avert the total loss of the name, somewhere down the line of time, I am hoping that we can come up with a solution to avoid this. We need your participation. The BRITNELL name has an interesting history and it would be a terrible shame to lose it. I don't much like being an endangered species. For those BRITNELLs who did not receive a census package in the mail please email me here-->mary.anne@shaw.ca OR: write to me at 35 Deerpoint Road, SE, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, T2J 6R3 I hope to have the census complete by March of 2005.
