She is well known to the rootsweb staff. Almost as soon as she posts to the boards, the staff removes her posts. They are working on a way to block her, but she keeps finding ways to get around the filters. Here is what another list- & board-administrator had to say today: The URL she includes in the body of the message includes spaces in it so it is covert. http://65. 10 .15 .149 Doing this so as to avoid RW anti-spam detective? I signed on, mainly because as a list manager for "a few lists" and message boards, I wanted to check out what was being sent to list members. Yesterday I visited the site with my special logon number sent to me - I will not recommend this site to anyone. Slow, ineffiecnt, inaccurate and asking me to send in information and a minimum of $10.00 for more credits! Spamming RootsWeb where Genealogy is FREE is not the place to solicit business. Her address where she wants the $10.00 sent is- Angie Giles, P.O.Box 873, Rowlett, TX 75030-0873 ---snip------ As per the confirmation email ~ From: Angie Giles <AngieGenealogy@go.com> "I have credited your account to 50 credits for free. I have added over 21 Million Names so far and with the help of members like you I am correcting some problems in the database. I have not given or sold any email addresses to anyone and this is not a scam, I am just tring to add additional equipment which cost thousands of dollars, not counting the thousands of dollars for programmers. Please be patient while I try to create the largest online genealogy database in the world." Be patient? And wait for what? More Spam! I am writing to her post office box today and voice my opinion! Stop Spaming our Boards and Email Lists! Folks, this site is sooo slow, it is incredible ;0 <yawn>! And they will be charging folks for information she is asking you to correct or send in! Why would anyone send in the bucks for this? The same sort of stuff can be found faster and free-er at RootsWeb and the LDS site! She is putting a minimum of $10.00 on the order for more credits. if one credit = .01 cent, then six credits = .06 cents, to order a min. of $10.00 that would be 166 searches with the free 50 searches I got 8 searches and spent over an hour and a half online! TOO LONG! Thanks for "listening." Sue sudown@cwnet.com So, you see, this probably isn't a very promising site. Every time I have tried to visit it, I can't. It won't open. This is a case of "Let the buyer Beware!" Sharon Kern Co Volunteer
