I recently received an obit for Clara Stone Remington, who died June 5, 1959, Atascadero. Her obit in SLO Telegram mentions that 'she was the sister of the late Mrs. E.C. Lewis, whose husband founded the town of Atascadero". Have tried to find info on founding of Atascadero, no luck, sounds like a bogus claim, but is there anyone on this mailing list familiar with the history of Atascadero? Anyone ever heard of E.C. Lewis? Would love to find an obit on Mrs. E.C. Lewis. Both sisters were from Northampton MA, parents were Peter (Lapierre) Stone from Canada and Mary Jane (Laroche) Stone from Champlain NY.
