Hi List, I found an F.M. Furman listed in an index of the 'Registry of Woods-Voakes Mortuary 1896-1925' and believe that it is likely my great great grandfather, Frederick Miller Furman. The mortuary no longer has the original records as they were turned over to the historical society and the early Arroyo Grande cemetery records were destroyed in a fire in 1902. I would appreciate if someone could check the mortuary record and the South San Luis Obispo Co. Cemetery Book for both Frederick Miller Furman and his wife Nancy Furman. I do know that at least two of their children--James Arthur Furman and Alice Laura Furman--were in the area around 1908. Alice was married in San Luis Obispo in 1908 and James (a resident of Arroyo Grande) was listed as a witness on the marriage license. There was no sign of any Furman family on the 1910 census. Thanks for any help on this--of course, if anyone has additional information on this family I would be interested and would be glad to share what I have.
