My great grandfather George BOEHNER Sr and his wife Catherine (LAUBENSTEIN) Boehner lived in San Luis Obispo County-- first at Creston and then over at the coast in SLO. George's sister married into the PAULUS family. And both were good friends and neighbors of the KLINTWORTHS. What I was wondering was whether anyone can tell me anything about the history of the little VILLAGE OF CRESTON. How did it get started? When? What ethnic group(s) settled there? What was its draw? Is there a town/village history written? Etc. Any help is appreciated. E-mail reply to: pasrileynr@aol.com

Hello: Was there a 1885 Mortality census taken in San Luis Obispo county? I believe there was a 1880 mortality census taken; was there one in 1885, as well? Thank you, Mary Lee Hampton Moeny CCNmail for your free web-based e-mail. http://www.ccnmail.com
Sue, I know you feel Risdom Robertson ended up in Washington but, if so there are 2 of them! I found a death record and obit for a Risdom Robertson born in Tn. 5 Dec. 1859. His father was Henry Robertson and his mother Mary Jones...IF this is your man, please e-mail me! Also have transcribed the death record for Sheriff Taylor. His parents were: David Taylor and Amanda Gethens (sp.) both born in Kentucky. doreen
Does anyone out there have information on CHARLES J. TAYLOR, who was sheriff of SLO County in 1915? In Sept 1915, a gr-gr-grandfather, WILLIAM NOAH ROBERTSON, b. 1853 Dyer Co.,TN - (became Crockett County in 1872) - made a trip to CA. According to notes he kept on the trip, he visited Santa Margarita. Charles J. Taylor's name was among the notes in his log book, along with reference to his being "sheriff of SLO County." Also mentioned was RISDOM ROBERTSON, "brother" b. abt 1860. We know that Risdom Robertson's family lived in CA in early 1900's. Exactly where he lived - and when and where he died - is not known. Risdom and W. N.'s first cousin, Fannie ("Dollie") Robertson,b. abt 1852, Dyer Co., TN, daughter LUKE ROBERTSON and Harriet Hawkins, married Dyer Co., TN bef. 1875, JAMES TAYLOR b. abt. 1848 SC. It's a long shot, but we're hoping there that there is some family connection between "Sheriff Taylor" and the James Taylor b. abt 1848, SC. This recently discovered little log book, with it's very sparse notes, are the only clues we have to the RISDOM ROBERTSON family in CA. Risdom had at least two daughters. Wife's name is unknown. Sue .
Does anyone know the location of a Routzahn Seed Farm that existed in SLO county circa 1908? Thanks for any help on this, Lisa ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

Rooters: Found this on a gen search link & thought maybe someone would find this site useful. Was originally looking for CA Santa Clara Co 1850 - 1860 and Santa Barbara Co 1870, but forgot where I was heading after becoming involved with this census data for Alabama, US links and Maryland. Nothing much on TN, GA here, but go to the US links. Reminds me of researching for a school project and getting off tract in the encyclopedia, or in the dictionary, or whatever. Guess things don't change 50+ years later? http://www.genswap.com/census.html" GenSwap -Online Census Genealogy Data Hope this is useful, let me know what you think. Richard
