I sent to the County Recorder for two death records, but they wrote back & said the deaths must have occurred in a different county. A family member found their graves in the Stockton Rural Cemetery: Mrs. Sallie Tait - d. 26 April 1886, and Mrs. Nancy Johnson - d. 6 July 1904. I know that these two women came to Stockton about 1873; they must have moved outside of county lines at some point, but their familes brought them back to Stockton for burial. Since I don't know where they were living at the time of death, I was hoping there would be an obituary that would give that information & names of surviving family, etc. Do obituaries in Stockton go back that far? Any other suggestions?
