Also, does not show in city directories (include SJCo), cemetery books, etc. Cremations done by the State Hospital were done at what is now Delta College. Once cremated, the cremains were buried in mass graves. A small possibility is the cremains being housed at San Joaquin County Hospital in French Camp. I have a sneaking suspicion that many of these thousands of cremains are of State Hospital inmates. One can call the pathology department at San Joaquin County Hospital & if they have the cremains.. they will tell you how you can claim them for burial. -------------------------------------------------- place of death: district #3950 Registered # 538 Stockton State Hospital 23 ward. Robert Fair Male, White, Single born 1878 was a messinger boy. died June 5, 1926. born in California... no family information Was in state hospital 25 yrs, 7 mos, 4 days. was under doctors care from Jan 6, 1926-June 5, 1926. Died of General Arteriosclerosis & Psychosis was a contributing factor... Fred Coyningham was the attending. All information on patient from hospital records. Cremated at the State Hosp Crematory #1001 --------------------------------------------------------------------- That's it.. about par for State Hospital.. so won't give you much. This guy was born in 1878, so would have been 2 years old in 1880. He was put in the hospital at age 23... wow, so young! Would love to hear the family story on this one.
