    3. Those buried at the State Hospital on California Street were moved to the current Rural Cemetery on Cemetery Ln in Stockton. There is sometimes a bit of confusion.. there was more than one "State" Hospital. In 1919 you would probably be speaking of the Current (now closed for most part) State Hospital Grounds. The State Hospital grounds are now being used by a university (Phoenix U) as a satilite facility. A few buildings are used for mental health.. the cemetery portion is now closed.. The rural should have a list of those who were moved. There is still a small portion of folks still buried at the SHosp grounds. There is a list.. but the wherabouts is hard to find.. I have been told the Health Department on Hazelton st has it.. I have been told Rural has it, I have been told county Hospital in French Camp has it.. etc.. There is/was a cemetery at French Camp County Hospital.. that was moved to make room for expanding hospital.. graves moved to French Camp cemetery & another one out by the hospital. Potter's field may have been the French Camp hospital grounds. One other place it could have been... St Joseph's Medical center is built on property that was once a cemetery.. graves were moved to Rural.. some nice movers.. moved the stones first.. Graves were not all located.. so some stones were put in an old shed.. or placed with no body. Your best bet is to try for an obit.. it will give actual burial location. If it is Rural cemetery.. you will find them very helpful. Here is a list of local cemeteries: STOCKTON RURAL 2350 Cemetery Lane Stockton, CA 95204 (209) 465-5213 very helpfull. Be patient, only one person usually on duty in office at a time. PARKVIEW 3661 E French Camp Rd Manteca, CA 95336 (209) 9821611 SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY GENERAL HOSPITAL 500 W Hospital Rd French Camp, CA 95231 (209) 468-2000 (gen info line) Not sure if a letter to coutny hospital will be returned (they are busy there). Also.. not sure who is buried there.. but there is a chineese cemetery at Matthews Road and the frontage road to I-5 in French Camp.. Just Southeast of the Hospital Road grounds... I have never stopped there (very seldom go out that way any more). The San Joaquin Historical Society may have more on this.
