I also recommend that you go to the section on Family Trees in the Rootsweb site sponsored by Ashley-Pace Family, and look for Kast, Johann. Actually his name was Johann Georg "Jurreje" Jurgh Kast, Sr. b. 1679 in Germany and settled in New York. The Ashley-Pace Family Tree has the most comprehensive and extensive Kast Family tree and most of the family branches. A real good site to go. That site saved me hundreds of hours of research. The Kast side of the family that I am doing research on went from New York, to Ohio, to Wisconsin, to California (San Joaquin County, and Madera County, California). Since your grandmother family settled in California, I do have some information of the Kast family in California.
