Born Sept. 7, 1909, in Stockton, Mrs. Pistorius was the daughter of the late Elsie Helen (Johnson) Rodgers and Benjamin Elias Rodgers. She moved to Woodland in 1961 with her family where she was a homemaker and licensed daycare provider. She loved to write poetry and received an award for her poem "Wake Up America" one of two poems she had published. Mrs. Pistorius is survived by her daughters, Cheris Johnson of Woodland, Carol Clemens of Dunsmuir, Marva Robinson of Eureka, Arlene Andrews of San Jose, Sharon Taylor of Woodland; and son, Raymond Pistorius of Fair Oaks. She is also survived by her 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Gammara of Danville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Pistorius was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest W. Pistorius; three brothers; and one sister. A service is scheduled at 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 26, at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
