Hi Colleen.. I have this one.. I put a note online.. have to have ground rules.. life.. If you don't have anyone looking for obits in SJ.. I can do a few a week.. only a few. I am still looking for information on the State Hospital inmates... those who died there between 1854- 1919. If you or anyone runs across any obits or information saying someone was buried at the State Hospital.. need to know. The matter is before the city council as I speak.. they say several weeks to investigate.. so am being patient.. and looking for information as I wait. Also... the petitions online are getting response, and I get notes from those folks in my email daily. I also have a printed petition that I will send to any who wish to pass it around at work, beauty shops, etc... So, if any are interested, email me an address & I will put into mail with a return envelope, so it won't cost to get it back to me. This project is so sad.. no names, nothing.. hope city council will help with that.. Was told to write Barbara Matthews... did .. no response. Pombo and several others responded.. Here's a funny.... sent Gray Davis (you know the Governor) a letter, sent to his SF address (was recommended to be best address), and it came back...".. forwarding order expired..." Go figure! Hi all, Marge Campbell here: Is there anyone currently doing SJ obits? Death cert transcriptions? The transcriptions are absolutely out for me.. Only an hour at lunch.. takes to long to trudge the traffic to & from work.. then wait for the info. I can try to fit a few obits in once a week or so.. PLEASE... Have to set a few ground rules.. sorry.. but the cemetery & family business are taking time right now.. so: 1. Have a date for me, prefer from death index, if you can 2. If you are within 30 miles of Stockton & are not disabled.. library is open Saturdays. Free parking in front of library (1 hour), or parking meters within half block for about 50 cents an hour. 3. Only one or two at a time... NOW THE BIG NEED... BE PATIENT! I work full time, I have an hour at lunch and 2 hours on Saturday morning for research. It is a 25 minute drive to downtown Stockton from home in Lodi, CA. I don't ask for any money in return.. only that you do the same for someone in your area if you are able. I DO FORGET!! I do lose notes (not intentionally).. so if you don't hear back in say 2 weeks... email me... "hey Marge, remember me???" and I will put you at the top of the list..
