I have been searching for the answer to your question for more than 10 years and am still uncertain. Like your grandfather, my great-grandparents Isabelle and Jasper Burkett died in Stockton in 1927 and 1928. Pope and Smith conducted the services and both were cremated at Park View. I have checked with all relevant cemeteries and no one has any knowledge. Some years ago I spoke with B. C. Wallace who took over the Pope and Smith location after P & S went bankrupt. He did not have their records nor know where they might be. He mentioned that Oscar Pope moved to Petaluma. Wallace thought Pope and Smith had their own crematory (possibly called the Columbarium or Stockton Crematory as my ancestor's death certificate shows). He thought this place was dismantled after the bankruptcy. No one that I have written to from the County Historical Society to the State Cemetery Board or anyone else has been able to help. My Mom said that as a little girl her mother took her to see the cremains. My mother's description was amazingly like Casa Bonita, but they said they do not have them, so like you I am still searching. Sorry I cannot be more helpful, but please know you are not alone in this dilemma.
