This could have been the LIVE OAK Cemetery (info from OLD CEMETERIES OF SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, by SJGS 1960 vol 1) located at the junction of West Land and Armstrong Road, between Lodi & Stockton. It was started about 1860, under the jurisdiction of the Methodist Church, and at one time there was a nice little chapel there. It was used until about 1904-05, after which many of the remains were moved to other cemeteries. When I asked about this site at the San Joaquin county Genealogical Society, they mentioned that the property was purchased by an individual who fought about the removal of the cemetery, and then used the stones in the foundation of his home. From what I was told, which was confirmed by the County is that the graves are still there. Sad. I will be putting a bit on the cemetery site on this. It will list the names of the persons buried there & a few obits if I can find them. If anyone on the list has family who were buried at Live Oak, has photos of the cemetery site, or persons buried there, I would love to hear from you. I have another puzzler for you. When we moved to Stockton in 1963 we lived in north Stockton. We used to go to Micke Grove by the back roads, seldom the same way twice in a row. At a T intersection out there somewhere was a small pioneer cemetery with burials 1870-1880, I think. The cemetery was pretty intact, just old and neglected in 1963. Sometime before 1970 it was vandalized, the stones knocked over but I think the stones were just left lying there. There has been so much building out there and roads that used to end punched through, I wonder if that cemetery is still there. It only had 25-50 graves in it, as I remember.
