SB 1448 has been amended and sent back to committee. Please go to the links below and read the changes (mostly clarification), then email all the Senators & officials you can to tell them you support saving our old cemeteries. This bill is an act to add Section 4015 to the Welfare and Institution code, relating to state hospitals and developmental centers. It will make them accountable for keeping records (public) of those they bury & make sure that the cemeteries of State hospitals are not just abandoned without due process to assure all remains have been handled properly (moved to new cemetery, or the existing cemeteries kept up as they should be). This is not a bill that will require any new taxes. The records should have been kept properly to begin with. It is going to make the responsible groups do their jobs as mandated by existing law.
