She was 84 years old. Mrs. Erreca was born on Dec. 18, 1917 to Pio and Francis Gortari in Patterson. She was the youngest of three children and grew up on her family?s farm, where she lived until she married Michel ?Mike? Erreca in 1937. The couple soon moved to the Esparto area, where they resided with their three daughters until 1957. In 1970 Mr. and Mrs. Erreca returned to Yolo County, and made their home in Winters. She lived there until the last few months, when declining mobility caused her to move to Sierra Convalescent Home in Davis. Mrs. Erreca was a homemaker all of her adult life. After raising her children and helping to raise her grandchildren, she provided day care in her home to numerous children for several years. She was a true "grandma" to all of them, and many of the children she cared for continued to visit her up until her death. She truly loved the little children and always looked forward to seeing her natural and "adopted" grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Erreca was a member of St. Anthony?s Parish, the Altar Society and the Winters Fortnightly Club. A genuinely caring person, she always had a smile for all she met. She was particularly devoted to her family and was always willing to help in any way possible. She will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Erreca was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Mike Erreca; brother Gordon Gortari, sister Lillian Fisher, and daughter Grace Holeman. She is survived by her daughter Noreen Bottomley and husband Les of Greenbrae and her daughter Shirlee Griffin Hailey and husband Bill of Winters. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kelley Bottomley, Les Bottomley, Denise Bottomley, Steven Bottomley, Mathew Bottomley, George Griffin, Sheree Griffin Jamieson, Valerie Rasmussen and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was held for Mrs. Erreca on Tuesday, March 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony?s Church in Winters, with interment following at the Winters Cemetery. McNary?s chapel handled the arrangements.
