    3. If you haven't already verified through a lookup in the CA Death index the date and county location of death, that should be your first step.....early death certificates in CA do tell you the names of parents and where they were born and if there is a spouse....also gives an informant's name and address and the burial location and undertaker used....an obituary would give you the kids names.... have you done any census work to establish his presence in San Joaquin 1900, 1910 and the remaining family members in 1920? Census soundex rolls can be ordered at your public library or thru an LDS FHC......I've cc'd a volunteer who can check CADI for the exact date of death and county location.....you can then order the dc from the county for the details included on it; death certificates were standardized in 1905 statewide so if the informant knew the information it should include the parent's names and birthplaces etc. as listed above Colleen ----- Original Message ----- From: Dawson Family <dawsonfam@cell2000.net> To: <CASANJOA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 01, 2000 9:31 AM Subject: [CASANJOA] James Radford Divine > Hello all, I am trying to find out where James Radford Divine is buried in Stockton, Ca. > He was born June 6, 1877 -- died Jan. 26, 1919 in Stockton, Calif. > I tried to get a death certificate on him to see if he had a wife or kids listed. In those early years a death certificate listed parents, spouse and sometimes children. I found where he was married to Sissy, they had three children Opal, Willard and Alvin.
