    1. [CASANJOA] Marriage Henry Mitchel abt 1905

    3. Hello, I am hoping someone can give me some information as to where to look for a marriage certificate. Henry H. Mitchel died in Stockton on 9 March 1909 (age 39) and he lived at 1220 E. Miner Ave with his wife. I have a copy of a couple of obits, passed down in the family, no name of newspaper or date. I also have a copy of his death certificate. His wife's name is not mentioned on any of these, but they say he was married and living with his wife. I would like to find a copy of his marriage certificate. There was no mention of any children, so I suspect that he may have married between 1900 and his death in 1909. His death certificate says that he had lived at the above address for 3 weeks. I don't know if he was newly married, or newly moved into Stockton, or had just moved within Stockton. He was a railroad night watchman. Is there an index of early California marriages somewhere? Or, does Stockton have a newspaper from that period? Would the public library be the place to search? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Marilyn Idaho
