    3. The state required birth registration in 1905 - when soc. sec. came into being, the state made available delayed birth certificates which required 2-3 different types of proof of birth (insurance, marriage, children's birth certificates) to register the birth if one hadn't been recorded previously but not many people did it on a delayed basis either for births prior to 1905......my mother was born in Sierra county in 1917 and she doesn't have a birth certificate recorded - no one got to town to take care of the home birth and only medical personal at the birth were required to file a birth certificate until hospital births became common and then the hospital took care of it for the new parents....suggest you try to find a mention of her birth in the newspaper since births tended to be news in that era......baptismal records are another source...... ----- Original Message ----- From: Deron A Wells <DERONKELLYWELLS@prodigy.net> To: <CASANJOA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 13, 2001 11:54 AM Subject: [CASANJOA] Lila Mae Bickford Birth Record > Hello, > > I was wondering if someone could help me with where I could find a copy of my great grandmother's birth record. 1. [CASANJOA] Stockton State Hospital & Asylum- Short update
    2. Margie
    3. Hi all... just to let you all know what is happening re the old state hospital cemetery site: 1. The Stockton city Attorneys office has the ball at the moment.. trying to determine what went wrong and why. 2. Barbara Matthews office referred it to the Stockton City Administrator. 3. Mayor Podesto's office forwarded the information to the City Council for further review. 4. One of the listers here found the location of the death/burial index. Now the State Archives is trying to figure out if we can "weed" these from the medical records legally. I also have this before other departments.. including the city council. 5. I have been extracting stories from the Stockton Record, Daily & Evening Mail, Weekly Mail, etc.. all those old Stockton papers. Some very sad & some very informative stories. Will put on web page when time permits (I am revamping my pages into one large area, as it is toooo jumbled now). So.. the ball is in the Stockton City Attorney / Stockton City Council's court. 2. Pamela, After 10 years of searching I am still trying to determine were my MILBRADTs came from in Posen. I still am not sure of who my great great grandmother's husband was or if Julia's maiden name was MILBRADT. I have it on the census records here and on her death certificate that she probably came to the USA in 1881. I have found information on other MILBRADTs in the US that came here in 1881, but she and her children are not listed with them???? Sorry I was of no help to you. If I find any information of vaule to you I will contact you. Christine

    3. If you haven't already verified through a lookup in the CA Death index the date and county location of death, that should be your first step.....early death certificates in CA do tell you the names of parents and where they were born and if there is a spouse....also gives an informant's name and address and the burial location and undertaker used....an obituary would give you the kids names.... have you done any census work to establish his presence in San Joaquin 1900, 1910 and the remaining family members in 1920? Census soundex rolls can be ordered at your public library or thru an LDS FHC......I've cc'd a volunteer who can check CADI for the exact date of death and county location.....you can then order the dc from the county for the details included on it; death certificates were standardized in 1905 statewide so if the informant knew the information it should include the parent's names and birthplaces etc. as listed above Colleen ----- Original Message ----- From: Dawson Family <dawsonfam@cell2000.net> To: <CASANJOA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 01, 2000 9:31 AM Subject: [CASANJOA] James Radford Divine > Hello all, I am trying to find out where James Radford Divine is buried in Stockton, Ca. > He was born June 6, 1877 -- died Jan. 26, 1919 in Stockton, Calif. > I tried to get a death certificate on him to see if he had a wife or kids listed. They were born sometime around 1880 to 1900, in either Butte County or San Joaquin County. I think they moved back to San Joaquin County in 1906. with their sister, Jesse. It is likely that if they married, they did so in San Joaquin County. I think Garret died in San Joaquin County in abt 1902 and brother Ezra or John ran a dairy in San Joaquin County after 1906 with brother Aaron. Thank you
