A member of my genealogical society phoned Earlene Flemming for an update on the status of the Genealogy Stamp. Our organization has been following the progress for the past two years. As of this month there were 20,000 rejections. BUT the genealogy stamp is in the top 200th position. Way to go. Now we must write our letters again to keep this project active. Ms Flemming always feels it carries more weight to have each individual write vis a vis an organization. So get your pen/pencil(oops computer) and paper and write asking that a genealogy stamp be considered. Earlene Flemming Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee US Postal Service 475 L'Enfant Plaza SW Room 5670 Washington DC 20260-2437 Write your thoughts of why a stamp needs to be authorized. There isn't a design yet and there won't be until the stamp is approved

I also attended Jackson School as a child - that would have been in the '50's - time does fly! Good Luck!
I can get a copy of the obit for you. Stockton main library (Chavez) has old Stockton papers from that far back. Allow about two weeks. Hi, I'm searching for information about William McCloud. He came to California about 1856 from Wisconsin and settled in Stockton. He was born in 1813 in Ohio. His sister was Maria McCloud Hanchett who also settled in Stockton. In a book that included a little bit about my McCloud side, there was a refrence about William: "He died on November 15, 1867 at the residence of Ferrer Powell, Mariposa Road, Stockton, California, from inflamation of the lungs." My question is, if this person found this newspaper once (in about 1985) how can I find it now? (I can't ask the person who wrote the book-she died recently) And are these families familiar to anyone? I'm trying to find out where he was buried and any additional info about him. Thanks, Marianne

Hi all, Marge Campbell here. I will be starting Delta College in Stockton next week, so will be going into Stockton daily. If you are willing to be patient, can try for death certificate lookups for you. Please let me know if you want an actual copy of the certified certificate.. the transcriptions are free (all hand written), but the certified copies have gone up from 10.00.. I think I paid 13.00 for the last one I got. I can also do obits, but again, allow me time (week or so), as I have to make the time to do this. And one other thing... Please keep these requests to YOUR or FREE (don't charge someone for the info I find) help you are providing to others. I volunteer my time at no charge, not fair to charge others for what I provide for free. NOTE: I do provide information to the SJGS, they may charge for the obits.. not sure what they charge, but I don't look often. (it's my donation to the society). Marge
