Sanchez Street Primary School, Historical Sketch, SF Muni Report 1879-80 This school occupies a two-story frame building, containing eight classrooms on Sanchez street, between Sixteenth and Seventeenth streets. It was opened January 8, 1877, in rented rooms on Castro street, between Seventeenth and Eighteen streets, and was moved into the building on Sanchez street January 6, 1879. The school contains eight classes, and has an enrollment of four hundred and twenty-two pupils. Mrs. F. A. BANNING, the present Principal, was placed in charge of the school at its organization. ------------------- Carolyn
