I live in Pennsylvania and have a question about California obituaries. Obituary searching is totally new to me, so how would I obtain obituaries for individuals that died in Orange/Los Angeles (1948 and 1976), Sonoma (1990) and Oakland/Alameda (1926)? The SF Public Library Library has a wonderful service that provides free obituary look-ups on request. (Their Web site, for those of you who may be unfamiliar: http://www.sfpl.org). Do any of you know if other libraries (Sonoma, Orange/LA, Oakland/Alameda) in California offer similar services? Also, are their obituary indexes online or CD ROMS available? Or do I need to physically visit local libraries to search newspaper/periodical indexes? Thank you! Allison Ector
