Dear CASANFRA and NORCAL listers, In August my husband and I will be in California and want to take photos of the houses his grandparents and mother lived in. We moved away from San Jose in 1986, but I never really knew the East Bay very well anyway. If someone is familiar with the following areas, would you please tell me if it is safe to go there. Any neighborhood that has been around since the 1920s has the possibility that it's not a very good neighborhood anymore, and we don't want to get mugged or robbed.
