    3. I have an old newspaper clipping of my great-grandmother's from The Morning Call sometime before 1906, I believe.I thought you might find it interesting: "They Won't Believe It I have been telling people here some of the sights I saw in America. They are not willing to believe the Palace Hotel in San Francisco is so large a building as I say. I wish THE MORNING CALL would state what is the length, breadth and height of it, and how many rooms it contains; also, what is the length and width of the bay, and the width of the narrowest part of the Golden Gate. M.W.D. (The Palace Hotel is 275 by 350 feet in size, covering nearly two and a quarter acres of ground. It is seven stories high, the lower story being twenty-five feet high in the clear, the seventh story fourteen. It contains 755 rooms, besides private parlors for distinguished guests, etc, and will comfortably accomodate 1,200 people. It cost about $3,250,000. The bay of San Francisco, including that portion called San Pablo Bay, which is, to all intents and purposes, a part of San Francisco Bay, is nearly fifty miles long by an average of nine miles wide. The Golden Gate is five miles long, and one mile wide in its narrowest part) " Miriam --- Stuffnmore@aol.com wrote: > I am looking for old photos or postcards for the > Rosenstock Building and the > Palace Hotel in San Francisco...most likely the very > early part of > 1900...does anyone on the list know how I would be > able to find these items? > Please contact me privately...thanks...Alice > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
