Hi all, I am researching my 3rd Great Uncle Oliver BROWN and am trying to find who his parents are. I have had a hard time researching Oliver's brother Seder Buchanan BROWN (my direct ancestor, b. in Pennsylvania, d. circa 1935 in Corning, Tehama Co., California) and am hoping by focusing on Oliver I can find their parents. I only recently found out about Oliver so I don't have to much information, but I was told that he opporated an "speakeasy" (illegal bar) during the Prohibition South of SAN FRANCISCO. This establishment still opporated as a restaurant during the 1980's, though not owned by Oliver. If you have any information or a family connection, I'd love to corraborate our research efforts. Hi Matthew, Do you have a year of birth for Seder Buchanan BROWN? Do you think his brother Oliver was also born in Pennsylvania? Was Oliver older/younger than Sedar - by abt how many years? Do you have a city/town in PA where he was born. Do you have a middle initial for Oliver. If you think they were alive in 1880, I could try to find them on the 1880 census index in PA. This census would show their, parents if still living, and the boys were still at home. What do you think? Have you found Sedar Buchanan BROWN's death on the CADI (Ca Death Index) http://www.vitalsearch-ca.com/gen/ca/_vitals/cadeathm.htm ? Where did you get his death date "circa 1935" and location of death? If you can find him on the CADI you will have an accurate date of death and can order her death certificate, which would most likely have his parents names on it. Let me know if I can help by looking for them in the 1880 census...
