    3. In the SF City Directory for 1880 Herman Ruppin was listed as a broker at 222 Montgomery with residence at 1108 Folsom. In the commercial section he is listed as a mining stock broker. Also a Conrad Ruppin, malster, Herman Zweig, residence 128 Park Ave. Zweig was a malt manufacturer.     2. Many thanks Bill. I expect to find that Conrad was a son of Herman? It all fits with the story of Herman being a Grain merchant although Herman must have moved into the Mining Speculation area afterwards. It tallies with his mining speculative activities at Chiltern. I will give the various Death lists a go an see what eventuates. I doubt whether he would have been alive much after 1910. Regards, R. A.
