Hello -- This is my first time to post to this list. I am looking for information on the family of EDNA (nee DEARY-DAIRY-DERRY) RAYMOND who was born in 1849 in Illinois and moved with her family to Jackson County, Oregon about 1850. She was orphaned by 1853/54 and adopted by Rev. O. DICKENSON. This could have taken place in either Jackson County, Oregon or Owyhee, Idaho where her father, PHILIP DEARY-DAIRY-DERRY, died. Her mother had died 2 years previously from injuries sustained when she was thrown from a horse in Jackson County, OR. EDNA had an older brother named JACOB DEARY, who was raised by a man named TOWNER SAVAGE. Jacob became well known in Owyhee Co., Idaho where he stayed to make his home. EDNA also had a younger brother named BASIL B. DEARY-DERRY who was raised by WILLIAM and JANE WRIGHT, the woman who cared for his mother after the injury (Basil was an infant at the time), in Jackson Co., Oregon. It appears that EDNA married a man by the last name of RAYMOND (first name unknown). I have a copy of a newspaper article of a celebration in 1939 in her honor at her daughter's home -- Mrs. M. L. SPANGLER of 310 Eucalyptus Avenue. The name of the newspaper was "The South San Francisco Journal". I am very interested in learning more about EDNA and Rev. O. DICKENSON and family who adopted and raised her. Thanks so very much! Joan Brown Derry MDMama2841@aol.com
