[This is being resent (corrected). I had an error in the previous message] I wanted to share with all the fact that I have completed in full and have online the entire 1870 Federal Census for Santa Clara County. I accomplished that when I completed Ward 2 of the City of San Jose and had it moved over this morning. I started this project about May, 2001 with the goal of putting online a county I lived in for several years for the benifit of all researchers. I firmly believe it will be of tremendous help to many. So after all these months I am very pleased to finally share this news. I am continuing on now with transcribing the census covering Marin County for 1870 [most of which I have already completed and have online as well]. I will also be starting my largest challenge--the transcription of the 1870 Federal Census for San Francisco [all 12 Wards], which will likely take a couple of years to complete as it is so huge....I will keep all informed as I progress through them as well.. The 1870 Santa Clara Census transcription is at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~cenfiles/ca/santaclara/1870/ It is my belief that this will help researchers a lot. Sincerely, Edward, Sr. [a native of Alameda County, born in Oakland]
