Bob He might be listed in San Francisco City Directory, if the union was listed with their officers. Hi Bob, In the late 1800s, many labor unions did not have the same meaning as they do today. They were originally organized within trades to standardize rates for services. I don't have the URLs handy, but there is some interesting historical information about the early unions at the California state website. If you have not done so already, you might try doing a search using a search engine such as "www.google.com" on "Brewery+Drivers+Union," "Brewery+Unions," "San+Francisco+Breweries," "SF+Beer+Truck+Drivers,""SF+Beer+Trucks," etc. to see what the search engine finds. If you put the words in quotes with a "+" between the words, the search engine will narrow its search to only those websites, and PDFs, that contain the words as a group. If you put the words in by themselves, you will get back every site that mentions the words in any order. I've done quite a lot of online research and it usually takes a lot of patience, checking an innumerable number of websites, and entering various combinations of words, but I almost always find tidbits. In my experience, many of the best sites for the specific type of information I was looking for was found way down on the listings. I've scanned down through as many as over 300 listings to find the correct one. If the information is out there, diligent searching will find it. Hope this helps, Anita C.
