Not only was Laughing Sal at Playland-at-the-Beach but she greeted everyone approaching the Funhouse behind glass at the building's corner. Her voice was amplified to the outside. The Funhouse was a fabulous place. As a kid I could stay there for hours. It featured a rotating barrel (the trick in standing was to run at an angle against the rotation), a spinning platter (squirm yourself to the center, pry everyone's else's hands off the surface and generally push them to the outside), jackknifing and shaking ramps at the entrance (where an attendant would blow air under girl's skirts ala Maryln Monroe), the polished wooden slide with a potato sack as your flying carpet, distorting mirrors. What am I missing!
So YOU were the one who made me slide off the spinning platter!!Not all of us did that(we were too busy just trying to stay on). Nearby was one of my favorites: the submersible diving bell that let you see little fishies in the merky water. --- Doug Urbanus <firstboy@pacbell.net> wrote: > Not only was Laughing Sal at Playland-at-the-Beach > but she greeted > everyone approaching the Funhouse behind glass at > the building's > corner.
