My O'Brien Family line settled in SF in early 1870's from what I can gather. I have very little documentation to support my information. Much of it is word of mouth. John Daniel O'Brien I came from Co. Cork, Ireland, not sure when. b. abt. 1850 d. in SF 1935 m. Ellen Cecilia Nellie Colon b. 1851 Newark, NJ. Must have met her in NJ or NY. They came overland while she was carrying twins, according to my grandmother. I have their children born in California. First born son was John Daniel O'Brien II b. 1874, my gggrandfather not sure who his wife was, their may have been two. His son was John Daniel O'Brien b. 1897 m. Lucille Adrene Heidt from Santa Clara Their son was my grandfather, John Phillip O'Brien b. 1918 Other family names were: Colon, Burke, Gysenberg, Doidge, etc. Thanks in advance for any help, Kris O'Brien Mays Oregon

Since John D O'brien had a distinctive occupation, I was able to identify him on the 1889, 1890, 1901 and 1915 city directories also.
