Reasons for frequent moves: 1. Inability to pay rent or board. There was no job security then. 2. Change in family status (some places only allowed single males or females) 3. Change in ownership or management of the rental 4. Change in configuration of the building 5. Change in job - difficulty in getting to workplace 6. Improper behavior - this was completely arbitrary 7. Change in rates for services rendered 8. Discovery by tax collector/other authorities that building was being used for illegal purposes or against municipal codes. 9.
