    1. [CASANFRA] Marriage record - 1904

    3. Hello. I am new to this list and know that marriage records for 1904 were most probably lost in the 1906 fire. However, I hope that maybe someone can point me to a resource that may have survived. My grandparents, William K. Mordock and Sarah Estella Dunford were married in San Francisco in 1904/5. My grandfather's surname was often misspelled 'Murdock' - my grandmother may have dropped the 'Sarah' as she was known as Estelle. She was LDS - he was Episcopal. Is there any place that may have records which survived the fire? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated? Thank you. Maryann Swigart

    3. Hi Maryann, A remote possibility is that there was an announcement in the hometown newspaper of the parents. Among the various postings from old newspapers that have appeared on this list, I've noticed that occasionally a San Francisco marriage has been written up in counties distant from San Francisco. On the other hand, if you are hoping the marriage record will tell you who the parents are and where they were living at the time of the marriage, the above information is not much help. Hope this helps, Anita C. Monterey County swigartj wrote: > > Hello. I am new to this list and know that marriage records for 1904 > were most probably lost in the 1906 fire.
