Karen... I realize that this is a long shot but there may be a connection here. When I was in high school, there was a drive-in restaurant located at the corner of Columbus & Bay in North Beach just across from the present day Tower Records. The name of the establishment was none other than Otts. Also, there are two pages devoted to William J. Otts in the History of San Francisco (Vol. III) published by the S.J. Clarke Co. in 1931.
