Hello Pam and everyone , I am new to this list . My name is Carol and I live in Wales UK . I have been researching one member of my family in San Francisco . His name was THOMAS ENGLAND and he was an Architect . He was born in Cork , Ireland in 1823 and left for Philadelphia about 1849 , where he stayed till March 1852 , when he sailed on the ASA PACKER to California . He worked and lived in San Francisco from 1852-1869 when he died prematurely of consumption (His Obituary is posted on Pams SF genealogy Obits page) . Besides all of his letters that he sent home to Ireland , I also have an unidentified photograph which I am hoping is Thomas England . I know from his letters that he sent photos home . The photograph has no photographers name on it , only a picture on the back and I am hoping that some of you may have a photo with a similar backing that was taken in SF .
