Hi Marge, I had s little luck searching the CADI for your folks - I selected "soundex" rather than "exact" for the spelling of MacCarthy - I also entered the surname in one word all in caps (MACCARTHY) and this came up: MCCARTHY ROBERT E Born - 07/14/1887 in Rest(Other) Mother - MCCARTHY Father - MCCARTHY Sex - M Died - 11/11/1949 in San Francisco (38) SS# 545-05-4793 Age - 62 yrs This SS# for Robert is not listed in the SSDI for Robert and I could not find him in the SSDI searching on just his name (with and without any of the dates shown on the CADI). Not a problem, lots of folks are not included in the SSDI for one reason or the other.... I was unable to find Robert Sarsfield MacCarthy/McCarthy in the CADI or in the SSDI - I searched with and without dates - using initials rather than first and middle names - I also used the "soundex" rather than "exact".... But no luck... So....... only a 50% success rate - but at leas that much...
