    2. Hi Perhaps the Calif Historical resources will give you info. Here in Va, I research historical structures and archeaological sites found posted on USGS 7.5 topographic quadrangle maps. All surveyed historic structures and archeaological are marked on the maps and numbered according to counties and cities on the topo maps. These sites are linked to recorded info describing the sites. I work as a professional environmental analyst and I have found much info there regarding architects, etc. Another also good resources are Sanborn Fire Insurance maps at the state Library. Among his works in SF are St Francis of Assisi on Vallejo Street , Old St Marys Cathedral on California Street , a Baptist Church in 1855 , 2 Fire Engine Houses in 1855 , St Marys College in 1863 (demolished) , a Synagogue in 1854 , and many other unknown buildings in SF and other places in California . (Stockton , Grass valley , Sacremento etc) If I contacted the SF public library , would they be able to find accounts of the opening ceremonies of these places in the old newspapers ? He also mentions in one of his letters dated July 1855 that his name was in the newspaper recently and that he was enjoying some success at that time . I would like to be able to locate this article . Would the SF library assist me ? Or is there another way of doing it ? Regards Carol in Wales UK
